AcroYoga is a mixture of Acrobatics and Thai Massage. One partner lies on his back on a mat on the floor and the other partner is carried with the hand and feet. It is an exercise of giving and taking, respect and acceptance for each other and an exercise to let go. Both partners reach an unknown level of deep relaxation and connection. AcroYoga promotes self confidence, helps with posture problems, back-bone problems and problems in the neck area.
Don’t worry, it is not as hard and exhausting as it might look.
Quite contrary, the “flying” enables deep stretching and relaxation for both partners.”Flying“is a dance between Shiva & Shakti, which combine the power of earth energy with the lightness and grace of the element of air. The base is a stable platform for the “flyer”. Through the weight of the head and the effect of gravity, the spine is relieved from pressure and stretched naturally. This allows for passive Yoga with stretches and twists.
I have learned the art of AcroYoga directly from the founder Jason Nemer und Jenny Sauer-Klein. They have been a real highlight at the Thaimassagecircus in February 2008 in Laos. I have been fascinated by AcroYoga since my first „flying lesson“! A couple more workshops in Germany with Jason Nemer and Adam Rinder followed. I have enjoyed each one of them with more and more enthusiasms. We “fly” during a Thai-Yoga-Massage whenever there is enough trust and interest present.
